What Role Did Addressing Unresolved Emotions Play In Helping Someone With Progressive MS? With Dr. Arielle Schwartz, Part 3

Show Notes

Today on Biology of Trauma, we conclude our series with Dr. Arielle Schwartz on identifying trauma and addressing the freeze response. In this episode, we hear a story of hope from Laura Bautista, a 21-day journey graduate who recovered from MS by healing her trauma.

Laura was diagnosed with degenerative MS at age 21. Western medicine determined that she had a bleak future of pain, loss of function, and even death. Like all autoimmune diseases, many seemingly random symptoms were dismissed and normalized throughout her life. It wasn’t until she discovered functional medicine that Laura learned to listen to her body. For seven years, Laura slowly detoxed and began tracking her nervous system leading to a full recovery from what was diagnosed as a progressive disease.

There was never an exterior event to pin Laura’s traumatic response on. However, tracking built awareness that allowed her to remove barriers to her healing. The body is naturally designed to heal itself, but stress, unhealthy foods, and lifestyles burden your body. This capacity exists within every person, and somatic tools are resources along your journey to your natural state of wellness. Simply, learning to slow down saved Laura’s life.
