Episode 49: Beneath The Surface: Childhood Freeze In Autoimmunity

Biology of Tauma Dr. Aimie BOT- Podcast Episode 49
"And speaking of framework to achieving freedom, each one of us is unique in this, there's not like one way that all of these unravel. There's just your own unique story and how you're telling it. And then what needs to happen for you to start approaching it from a different awareness."
Dr. Keesha Ewers

Show Notes

In this episode, Dr. Keesha Ewers joins me to discuss the connection between the freeze response and autoimmunity. We look at the body’s freeze response during traumatic experiences and how those triggers lead to a pattern of nervous system reactivity. We also dive deeper into the freeze response and why it is more common in children. These traumatic experiences can lead to the formation of beliefs and adaptive behaviors that persist into adulthood.

We take a deeper look at unresolved anger, specifically unexpressed anger turned towards oneself, and how it is associated with autoimmune conditions. The question we want to answer is: How is the freeze response behind autoimmunity?

Key Takeaways:

  • Why looking back and finding a moment when you wanted to die can be helpful
  • How long a Biology of Trauma is happening underneath the surface before symptoms develop
  • Why children experience freeze more than fight or flight
  • You don’t need to remember the story to heal
  • 3 essential tools to reverse autoimmunity issues
  • What it is like to apply the tools to yourself and to your patients/clients

  1. This makes so much sense! How many are suffering, and affecting the lives of those around them, because they aren’r getting the right information or help. As a health professional, this is a large deficit that needs to be filled with the right information. Thank you so all you do!
